Biography
Matt has extensive experience advising mortgage lenders and other consumer finance companies in a variety of regulatory compliance, enforcement, and litigation matters. Prior to joining Mitchell Sandler, Matt served as a legal, compliance, and operations executive for a growing multistate mortgage lender and real estate brokerage where he successfully led the company through numerous state and federal agency matters, oversaw execution of the company’s Compliance Management System, managed loan quality, and launched several important strategic initiatives including geographic expansion, eNote originations, and Remote Online Notarization closings.
In addition to his in-house experience Matt has represented mortgage lenders, servicers, and securitization sponsors in high stakes mortgage repurchase litigation and government agency investigations into potential violations of fair lending laws, the UDAAP provisions, and foreclosure laws. He also has experience advising on compliance with various state laws and regulations and, more specifically, the:
